Music Program

Abbotsford Middle School offers a large variety of music opportunities for the students.

Concert Band

There is a band class for each grade level, for grade 6, 7, and grade 8. Concert Band occurs during the school day within the regular student timetable. Students are placed within a "band class".

Choir

Choir is offered twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays at lunch after the eating period. Choir runs all year, from September to June.

Piano

Piano class is currently offered Monday and Wednesday mornings starting at 7:15am. The doors to the school open at 7:05am. There is only room for 20 piano keyboards in the classroom, so the enrollment is capped at 20 students. If your child is on a waiting list, spots will open up for your child if a student who is in the class does not attend regularly.

Guitar

Guitar class is currently offered Tuesday and Friday mornings before school at 7:15am. Doors to the school will be opened at 7:05am. Enrollment for this class will be capped at 30 students. If your child is on a waiting list, spots will open up for your child if a student who is in the class does not attend regularly.

Dhol

Dhol is a club that will be offered to students on Wednesday afternoons. Interested students can come and play the dhol drums and learn some of the basics for the first few months of the year. The school has 10 dhol drums. 10 students will ultimately be selected to be a part of the dhol performance group.

Please note: Enrolment in Band, piano and guitar is based on a yearly entrance, and students must stay in the course for the duration of the year. Students must commit to these classes for the duration of the school year. Music website – https://www.mrmacleodmusic.com/
