Abbotsford Middle School offers a world class education as an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program school.
For over 11 years we have offered a Soccer Academy for students in Grade 6, 7 and 8. This is a skill development program for athletes who already play on a soccer team and are looking to improve their individual skill level as well as their understanding of the game. Soccer academy students typically receive over 70 sessions of academy per school year. Academy students also become small sided games referees in their Grade 7 year, included in their fees.
Students receive training from high level coaches on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons during their regularly scheduled PE blocks. Our instructors are coaches from the UFV Men's and Women's soccer programs. The coach to player ratio is kept at 1 coach to maximum 15 players. The academy takes place on the brand new state of the art facility, Panther Field. Students miss no academic classes as their courses are scheduled around the academy.
This is an excellent opportunity for soccer players regardless of their skill level. Players are grouped according to ability/skill level in order to tailor specific training for the individual player.
Academically soccer academy students are in the same class throughout the day. This builds leadership and camaraderie amongst our student-athletes. Our soccer academy students typically perform at a high academic level in the classroom and are consistently recognized as well-rounded students in the school.
