Welcome Mrs. Petzold, our new Vice-Principal

This summer, Mr. Penner was awarded the title of Acting Principal at South Poplar Elementary.  Congratulations Mr. Penner, you will be an amazing Principal!  He has had a fantastic three years here at Abby Middle and did an amazing job working with staff and students.  We have all appreciated his ever present smile and kind nature, we valued the time and effort he put into building relationships with everyone who crossed his path. Mr. Penner, you will be missed, but we also know that you have an amazing career as a Principal ahead of you and we wish you the best of luck.

As always at Abby Middle, saying goodbye to an amazing staff member means that we get to say hello to a new Husky!  We would like to welcome Mrs. Kari Petzold as our new Vice-Principal!  Kari Petzold began her teaching career in Surrey in 1999. Throughout her 14 years there, she taught every grade from 2 to 7 in a variety of schools. After completing her graduate diploma in learning assistance, Kari worked for two years as a learning assistance teacher with students K-7. When a spot became available in Abbotsford, Kari said good-bye to Surrey, and hello to Abbotsford! Her first position, although brief, was at Abby Middle in the Spring of 2013, and she was very sad to leave. However, the following four years she spent at Dormick Park Elementary as a learning support teacher and they were delightful. Most recently, Kari has been fortunate to be a district learning support helping teacher, which has given her an appreciation for the strength and diversity of the students and staff in the Abbotsford School District. This past Spring she completed her Master's in Educational Leadership, and is now thrilled to be back at Abby Middle as its Vice-Principal!
